COOPERSTOWN, NY — Cooperstown Police and Fire Departments responded to a residential structure fire Saturday morning on Lake Street.
Emergency crews were dispatched by Otsego County 911 at approximately 11:20 a.m. to 125 Lake Street in the Village of Cooperstown.
The officer on duty arrived on scene and discovered heavy smoke and fire at the rear of the residence.
Cooperstown Fire Crews arrived shortly after and began to extinguish the fire.
In the process of making entry to extinguish the fire, crews located a victim, identified as an 89-year-old female.
Otsego County Emergency Services requested the assistance of New York State Fire for the fire investigation.
The fire is presently under investigation.
Cooperstown Fire Department was assisted by Otsego County Emergency Services, Milford Fire, Hartwick Seminary Fire, Fly Creek Fire, NYS Fire, NYSEG and the Village Water Department.
