Woman charged with DWI after crash in Potsdam

POTSDAM, NY — New York State Police responded to a two-car collision on State Highway 56 in the town of Potsdam on Nov. 20 at about 8:00 p.m.

Troopers determined that a blue 2014 Subaru Forester operated by Emily L. Kenny, 19, of Queensbury was traveling north and slowing to make a turn when a black 2015 Subaru driven by Brandi M. Kerivan-King, 46, of Norwood, struck her vehicle while following too closely.

Both vehicles came to rest off the roadway.

Kenny was transported to Canton–Potsdam Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

During the investigation, troopers observed signs of impairment in Kerivan-King.

She failed standardized field sobriety tests and was arrested and taken to SP Canton for processing.

While at SP Canton, Kerivan-King complained of shoulder pain and was transported to Canton–Potsdam Hospital, where she was treated for her injuries and released.

She was then returned to SP Canton to complete processing.

Kerivan-King was charged with driving while intoxicated and issued multiple vehicle and traffic law tickets.

She was arraigned in Town of Norfolk Court and released on her own recognizance.
