Reckless driving arrest on State Highway 10 in Hamden

HAMDEN, NY — Sheriff Craig S. DuMond announced Friday the arrest of a Walton resident for reckless driving on State Highway 10 in Hamden.

On Nov. 6, sheriff’s deputies responded to a vehicle and traffic complaint concerning a driver who crossed the solid double yellow highway lines multiple times and passed another vehicle on the left before the other motorist completed a right turn off State Highway 10.

Deputies said these actions forced a separate, uninvolved vehicle traveling south on the highway onto the shoulder to avoid a head-on collision.

Following an investigation, deputies identified the driver as Jill Marlett, 52, of Walton.

On Nov. 21, deputies arrested Marlett for reckless driving, an unclassified misdemeanor, and issued her traffic summonses for moving from a lane unsafely and failure to keep right, both violations.

Marlett was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Town of Hamden Court at a later date.
