NEWBURGH, NY — Police seized multiple firearms and illegal drugs during a search at a residence on Henry Avenue in Newburgh on Nov. 19.
According to authorities, the operation was conducted by members of the Troop F Violent Gang Narcotics Enforcement Team, Troop F Community Stabilization Unit, City of Newburgh Police Department, and Town of New Windsor Police Department.
The search resulted in the seizure of four handguns, two rifles, one AR-style firearm, one shotgun, assorted ammunition and magazines, approximately 28 grams of crack cocaine, approximately 14 grams of cocaine, approximately 14 grams of fentanyl, and about $3,190 in cash.
Lakeem L. Thompson, 27, of Newburgh, was taken into custody following the seizure.
Thompson was arrested and transported to State Police Montgomery for processing.
He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, and criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, all felonies.
Thompson was arraigned in Newburgh City Court and remanded to Orange County Jail on $20,000 bail.
He is scheduled to appear again in Newburgh City Court.
