BATH, NY — Police arrested a Bath woman after they say she falsely reported an attempted sexual assault on Geneva Street last week.
Officers with the Village of Bath Police Department responded at about 10:58 a.m. Nov. 14 to a report of an attempted sexual assault that was alleged to have occurred earlier that morning.
After investigating and gathering evidence, police determined the alleged assault did not occur and that the report was fabricated.
On Nov. 19, Victoria L. Burley, 39, of Bath, was arrested and charged with false written statement, a Class A misdemeanor, and falsely reporting an incident in the third degree, also a Class A misdemeanor.
Burley was processed and released on an appearance ticket.
She is scheduled to appear in Bath Village Court at a later date.
