Suspect surrenders after standoff in Gray

GRAY, ME — A suspect surrendered to law enforcement after an extended negotiation following a vehicle pursuit on Nov. 18.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Colley Hill Road at 10:54 a.m. to assist with locating occupants of a vehicle that had fled from Maine State Police.

Three of the occupants were detained by deputies shortly after the initial call for assistance.

A Cumberland County K9 Team was deployed to locate a fourth suspect.

The suspect was located by the K9 Team and challenged law enforcement, stating he was armed with a handgun.

The suspect then concealed himself in a swamp.

Additional resources from the Cumberland County Regional Emergency Services Unit were requested.

Law enforcement at the scene were able to contain the suspect and after an extended negotiation the suspect surrendered.

The multi-agency investigation is ongoing.
