BATH, NY — Officers with the Village of Bath Police Department were dispatched to the Taco Bell on West Morris Street around 7:46 a.m. on Aug. 11 after an employee reported that all of the money from the business safe was missing.
Following a months-long investigation, police arrested Dequantae J. Fisher, 27, of Corning, on Nov. 19.
Fisher was charged with burglary in the third degree, a class D felony; grand larceny in the third degree, a class D felony; and tampering with physical evidence, a class E felony.
According to police, Fisher had been terminated from his employment at the Taco Bell a few days before the incident.
Investigators determined Fisher unlawfully entered the restaurant in the early morning on Aug. 11, stole more than $3,000 in cash from the business safe, and accessed and deleted security camera footage to conceal evidence of the crime.
Fisher was processed, transported to the Steuben County Jail for CAP arraignment, and released without bail.
