Man charged in fatal bicycle crash in Framingham

FRAMINGHAM, MA — A 69-year-old man has been charged with leaving the scene of personal injury causing death after allegedly striking and killing a bicyclist Tuesday morning.

Paulo Castro of Framingham was arrested following the crash that occurred at approximately 9:50 a.m. in the area of Gorman Road and Concord Street, according to Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Framingham Chief of Police Lester Baker.

Framingham Police responded to a report of a bicyclist struck by a vehicle.

The involved vehicle did not remain on scene.

The operator of the bicycle, a 43-year-old Framingham man, was transported to an area hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Framingham Police subsequently located Castro and placed him under arrest.

He is expected to be arraigned Wednesday at Framingham District Court.

The crash is under investigation by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, Framingham Police and the Massachusetts State Police Collision and Reconstruction Section.
