PENN YAN, NY — Yates County deputies arrested Scott A. Thornton, 53, of Branchport, during a traffic stop in the Village of Penn Yan on an active arrest warrant.
The warrant stems from an investigation in which Thornton allegedly stored stolen property in a building belonging to a local business in the Village of Penn Yan.
Deputies allege that Thornton stole the property from a resident in the Town of Benton.
Thornton was taken into custody and transported to the Yates County Jail to await arraignment in CAP Court.
Sgt. Chisom was on the scene during the arrest.
