DEPOSIT, NY — A Deposit man was arrested Saturday night after leading sheriff’s deputies on a high-speed chase through several towns and counties on a stolen motorcycle, according to the Broome County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident began at approximately 7:53 p.m. on Nov. 15, when deputies observed a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed on Second Street in the Village of Deposit.
Authorities said the operator failed to comply with a traffic stop and fled on Old Route 17, leaving the village and entering the Town of Sanford.
The pursuit continued through the Town of Windsor, with the motorcycle reaching speeds between 65 mph and 90 mph and at times crossing into oncoming traffic.
Deputies reported the chase continued through the Village of Windsor, northbound on Route 79 into the Town of Colesville, then east on Route 7 into Chenango and Otsego counties.
In the Town of Unadilla, the motorcycle began to sputter and slowed down before stopping on Main Street.
Officials said the suspect, later identified as Ross T. Guglielmetti, 22, of Deposit, ran into a nearby trailer park, but was apprehended after deputies gave multiple commands for him to stop and drew a Taser.
Investigators determined the motorcycle had been reported stolen from Endwell and had been spray-painted with an unregistered license plate attached.
Guglielmetti was charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the third degree, tampering with physical evidence, unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle in the third degree, obstruction of governmental administration, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, and multiple traffic violations.
He was taken into custody without further incident.
