FALMOUTH, ME — The Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a residential fire that occurred Monday on Red Oak Drive.

Crews arrived around 4:11 p.m. to find the home fully involved, according to the Fire Marshal’s Office.

No occupants were inside at the time, and no injuries were reported.

Fire Marshal investigators spoke with the individuals who had been staying at the residence.

They advised that an accidental fire had occurred earlier in the day while an electric space heater was in use, and that the fire ignited a couch.

The occupants reported they believed they had extinguished the fire, but it appears to have rekindled after they left.

Due to the extent of the damage, the fire is being classified as undetermined.

The Fire Marshal’s Office was requested by the Falmouth Fire Department to respond to the scene.
