PITTSFIELD, MA — A 13-year-old was arrested on multiple firearm charges after police responded to a report of motor vehicle break-ins on Nov. 18.
Officers were dispatched to the Bradford Street area at 10 p.m. for a reported active breaking and entering into motor vehicles.
Upon arrival, officers observed a person matching the suspect description provided by the caller.
The suspect refused to stop when officers requested and refused to remove their hands from their sweatshirt pocket, according to police.
The suspect attempted to evade officers multiple times and repeatedly made movements consistent with concealing a weapon, police said.
When an officer attempted to conduct a pat frisk, a struggle ensued.
The suspect was taken to the ground, and a firearm was recovered from their person.
The firearm was later determined to be stolen, according to police.
The juvenile was charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of ammunition with FID, possession of a large capacity feeding device, breaking and entering in the nighttime for a felony, and carrying a firearm without a license.
