BRAINTREE, MA — A student was detained at Braintree High School on Nov. 17 after a witness reported seeing another student with a handgun.
A School Resource Officer was approached by a witness in the early morning who reported that another student was in possession of a handgun.
The School Resource Officer immediately notified supervisors and school administration.
A shelter in place was enacted at the school.
Braintree Police officers and school staff separated the student and detained him without incident.
The student was cooperative.
A search revealed a realistic-looking airsoft pistol in the student’s coat.
The student was arrested.
Administrative sanctions are pending.
Police will not be releasing the student’s identity at this time.
