KINGSTON, MA — A man banned from possessing firearms was arrested over the weekend after police recovered a semi-automatic pistol from a home.

Jason Bakoian, 43, of Kingston, was taken into custody without incident by patrol officers on Route 3 South following a week-long investigation.

Police said officers and detectives had been investigating reports that Bakoian, a prohibited person under state and federal law, was potentially in possession of a firearm.

During the investigation, a 9mm Hi-Point semi-automatic pistol was recovered from a home, and a detective obtained an arrest warrant.

Police said Bakoian has a significant history with the department.

Detectives are working with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to determine the origin of the firearm and how it came into Bakoian’s possession.
