Man arrested after armed threat reported in Schenectady

SCHENECTADY, NY — A Scotia man faces multiple felony charges after police responded to a report of an armed threat at a residence early Sunday morning.

The Schenectady Police Department received a 911 call at approximately 3:45 a.m. on Nov. 16 from a person inside 797 Oregon Avenue reporting that another individual in the home had threatened her with a gun.

Officers responded and established a perimeter around the residence.

The caller safely exited the home and told officers that the person who threatened her remained inside with six other occupants.

Police negotiators made several attempts to contact the individuals inside the residence but received no response.

Officers then applied for and obtained a search warrant.

The Schenectady Police Special Operations Team, assisted by the New York State Police, executed the search warrant.

All occupants exited the residence without further incident as the warrant was being carried out.

A search of the property resulted in the recovery of two handguns.

Donnie Ray Devane, 42, of Scotia, was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, assault in the first degree and menacing in the second degree.

Talitha R. Slaver, 33, of Schenectady, was charged with concealing or altering physical evidence, criminal possession of drugs with intent to sell and criminal possession of drugs.
