WEBSTER, MA — Two people were arrested early Friday morning after police responded to a disturbance at an apartment on Market Street.
Webster Police Sergeant Derek Mroczek responded to 32 Market Street at approximately 2:16 a.m. after reports of yelling and screaming coming from an apartment.
Upon arrival, Mroczek observed numerous individuals inside the apartment, including a man appearing to suffer from a drug-related overdose and another man who had locked himself in the bathroom.
Officers also contacted a woman inside who had an active warrant for her arrest.
As Webster EMS responded to treat the overdose victim, the man in the bathroom jumped out of a window and fled on foot behind the apartment building.
The man was identified as Angel Torres, 30, of Webster, who had four active warrants for his arrest.
Webster Officers Alex Johnson and Shane Murray arrived on scene and began pursuing Torres along with Dudley Police Sergeant Keith Remillard.
Torres jumped over a fence and concealed himself in bushes between Market Street and North Main Street.
Police requested mutual aid from Massachusetts State Police and Oxford Police to establish a perimeter.
K9 units from Massachusetts State Police and Westborough Police responded to assist.
Johnson deployed a police drone to search the area.
Remillard located Torres hiding in bushes below a stone wall, and Officer Murray took him into custody.
Torres was arrested on four warrants from Boston District Court and Dudley District Court, including charges of carrying a dangerous weapon, resist arrest, distribution of a Class B drug, possession to distribute Class B and Class E drugs, assault and battery, and strangulation or suffocation.
Torres also faces new charges of possession of a Class B drug (subsequent offense) and possession of a Class A drug, fentanyl (subsequent offense).
Jennifer Konicki, 52, of Webster, was arrested on a warrant from Dudley District Court for larceny of a motor vehicle, vandalize property and conspiracy.
