WESTFORD, VT — A Fairfax man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after troopers responded to a vehicle fire early Saturday morning.
Jordan Atwood, 31, of Fairfax, was taken into custody at approximately 12:10 a.m. on Vermont Route 128 near River Bend Lane.
Troopers were dispatched to the scene after receiving a report of a vehicle fire.
Upon arrival, they located Atwood near the burning vehicle.
While speaking with Atwood, troopers observed signs of impairment.
Atwood refused to be screened and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
He was transported to the Vermont State Police Williston Barracks for processing.
Atwood was later transported to the Northwestern Correctional Facility in St. Albans on $200 bail.
He was issued a citation to appear in Chittenden County Superior Court on Nov. 17 at 8:30 a.m. to answer to charges of DUI refusal, third offense, and criminal driving with a suspended license.
