BATH, NY — A woman was arrested and charged with aggravated cruelty to animals after police found a dead dog locked in a crate inside an apartment on Howell Street.

Officers with the Village of Bath Police Department responded to the residence on Nov. 12 for a report of a deceased dog found inside the apartment.

Police located a deceased pit bull mix inside a locked crate.

The investigation determined the dog had been left to die, locked in the crate with no food or water for weeks.

A full bag of dog food was found approximately two feet away from where the dog starved to death.

The Finger Lakes SPCA assisted Bath police in removing the body.

Police determined the prior tenant of the residence, Kassidy Hall, had moved out and left the dog there to die.

Officers located Hall, 30, of Bath, on Nov. 14 and placed her into custody.

Hall is charged with one count of aggravated cruelty to animals, a Class E felony.

Hall was processed and released on an appearance ticket, as the charge does not qualify for bail.

Hall is due in Bath Village Court at a later date.
