Woman arrested on drug, DWI charges in Bedford

BEDFORD, NY — A Connecticut woman faces multiple charges after a traffic stop on Interstate 684 on Nov. 9.

A New York State Trooper assigned to the Somers barracks observed a vehicle traveling northbound at a high rate of speed on Interstate 684 at approximately 9:42 a.m.

The trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver failed to comply, leading to a brief pursuit.

The vehicle came to a stop a short distance later after being slowed by traffic ahead.

The operator, identified as Christina M. Virgilio, 39, of Danbury, Connecticut, exhibited signs of impairment.

An inventory of Virgilio’s personal property resulted in the discovery of drug paraphernalia, numerous fentanyl pills, and quantities of cocaine and Adderall.

Virgilio was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 5th degree, a class D felony; two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree, class A misdemeanors; unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle in the 3rd degree, a class A misdemeanor; driving while intoxicated, an unclassified misdemeanor; and multiple vehicle and traffic law violations.

Virgilio was arraigned before the Town of Bedford Court and released on her own recognizance.

She is scheduled to reappear in court on Nov. 19.
