Man arrested on burglary charge in Gouverneur

GOUVERNEUR, NY — New York State Police arrested an 18-year-old man on burglary charges after he allegedly entered a garage without permission on Averell Street in the village of Gouverneur.

Troopers responded to the scene at approximately 12:29 a.m. on Nov. 10 for a report of a burglary in progress.

An investigation determined that an individual entered onto private property and into a garage without permission.

The homeowner confronted the individual inside the garage and contacted law enforcement.

Upon arrival, the individual provided a false name to both the homeowner and responding troopers.

He was taken into custody and transported to SP Gouverneur for further questioning.

Troopers identified the suspect by his true name through prior encounters and a distinctive tattoo.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect had arrived at the location in a vehicle with Lindsay M. Shattuck, 27, of Gouverneur.

Shattuck had dropped him off with the intent that he would burglarize the garage and planned to return afterward to pick him up.

On Nov. 10, the 18-year-old man from Ogdensburg was arrested for burglary in the second degree and false personation.

He was arraigned in the Town of Gouverneur Court and released on his own recognizance.

On Nov. 12, troopers made contact with Shattuck, who admitted she had dropped the man off and intended to pick him up.

She stated she left the area after observing a State Police vehicle at the residence.

Shattuck was arrested for criminal facilitation in the third degree.

She was arraigned in the Town of Gouverneur Court and released on her own recognizance.
