KILLINGTON, VT — Police are seeking an arrest warrant for a man who allegedly fled from officers during a traffic stop attempt on October 13.
Christian Rogers is wanted on charges of driving with a criminally suspended license, attempting to elude police and careless and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
Killington Police attempted to stop a vehicle for an expired inspection around that time.
The male operator failed to yield to police and instead increased his speed, ignoring police lights and sirens, according to the press release.
The vehicle led police on a pursuit into Pittsfield where it ultimately turned onto a dirt road that was being graded as part of a work zone.
Police terminated the pursuit for safety reasons.
During the investigation, police determined the operator was Rogers, who later admitted his involvement to Vermont State Police Royalton Troopers when the vehicle was located.
Rogers told troopers he thought the officer behind him was responding to another call.
He was advised to contact Killington Police to provide his statement but has failed to do so.
A Vermont DMV records check indicated Rogers is criminally suspended from operating a motor vehicle.
Rogers has not been in contact with Killington Police since the incident and cannot be located.
An arrest warrant application has been filed with the Rutland County State’s Attorney’s Office and is pending approval from a Vermont Superior Court, Criminal Division judge.
