Two arrested on DUI charges in North Smithfield, Johnston

NORTH SMITHFIELD, RI — State police arrested two people on drunken driving charges following separate motor vehicle accidents Sunday night.

At 9:26 p.m., troopers arrested Tiffany Ferreira, 40, of East Providence, for driving under the influence of liquor with a blood alcohol content between .10 and .15 percent, first offense.

Troopers responded to a motor vehicle accident on Route 146 South in North Smithfield.

Ferreira’s blood alcohol content measured .125 percent in the first phase of testing and .123 percent in the second phase.

She was transported to the State Police Scituate Barracks where she was processed, arraigned by a justice of the peace, and released with a notice to appear in Third Division District Court.

At 10:58 p.m., troopers arrested Alexander Thayer, 40, of North Providence, for possession of a controlled substance less than 10 grams (cocaine), driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs, first offense, and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

Troopers responded to a motor vehicle accident on Route 295 South in Johnston.

Thayer was transported to the State Police Scituate Barracks where he was processed, arraigned by a justice of the peace, and released with a notice to appear in Third Division District Court.
