GREECE, NY — The Greece Police Department partnered with local retailers on Nov. 11 to conduct a coordinated retail theft enforcement detail along Mt. Read Boulevard.
The operation involved Tops, Walmart and Wegmans, which provided additional in-store personnel to assist officers in monitoring store activity and identifying offenders.
Three people were arrested on petit larceny charges.
Nicole Childs, 45, of Rochester, was charged after allegedly stealing $240.35 worth of grocery items from Walmart.
Ralph Padilla, 75, of Greece, was charged after allegedly stealing $54.42 worth of grocery items from Wegmans.
Lawrence M. Bullock, 61, of Canandaigua, was charged after allegedly stealing $481.46 worth of grocery items from Wegmans.
Police said the initiative marks the start of a sustained holiday-season effort to identify and arrest shoplifters and reduce retail theft.
