Man arrested after fleeing traffic stop in Cortlandville

CORTLANDVILLE, NY — A McGraw man faces multiple charges after allegedly fleeing from sheriff’s deputies during an attempted traffic stop early Sunday morning.

Sheldon L. Morse, 30, of McGraw, was arrested at approximately 2:39 a.m. on November 10.

Officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office attempted to conduct a traffic stop of a vehicle for traffic violations on State Route 11 at approximately 2:32 a.m.

The vehicle failed to pull over and fled up Ridge Road at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle continued to flee from officers until the operator pulled into a driveway on West Academy Street in the Village of McGraw.

Morse was taken into custody without incident.

He was charged with unlawful fleeing a police officer in the third degree, obstruction of governmental administration in the second degree, reckless driving, failure to comply, speed in zone, two counts of speed not reasonable and prudent, two counts of failure to stop at a stop sign and inadequate exhaust.

Morse was transported to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office for processing and released on appearance tickets.

He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Cortlandville Court on December 1 at 1 p.m. for arraignment.
