Man charged with child endangerment in Geneva

GENEVA, NY — A 50-year-old man faces child endangerment charges after a 13-year-old ingested cocaine at a residence on Cherry Street on Monday.

Members of the Geneva Police Department’s Uniformed Division responded to the residence at approximately 3 p.m. to assist Finger Lakes Ambulance.

Officers learned that the 13-year-old had ingested cocaine that was located in the kitchen of the residence.

Two minors were checked over by Finger Lakes Ambulance and released to family members.

Officers determined that Eric B. Guthrie, a convicted felon, had left cocaine in the kitchen, which was accessible to the two minors residing in the home.

Guthrie, of Geneva, was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.

He was transported to the police department, processed, and transported to the Ontario County Jail for arraignment.

Guthrie was released without bail during the arraignment proceedings and will answer to the charges at a later date.

The Ontario County Child Protection Agency assisted the Geneva Police Department with the investigation.
