BETHEL, VT — Vermont State Police arrested a 66-year-old man on domestic assault charges following a 911 hang-up call Nov. 9.
Troopers responded to a residence on S Main St at approximately 5:37 p.m. after receiving the disconnected emergency call.
Upon arrival, police learned a domestic dispute had occurred at the residence.
An investigation determined that Randy Oakes, 66, of Bethel, caused pain and injury to a household member, according to police.
Police said Oakes also attempted to prevent the victim from calling emergency services for help.
Oakes was arrested and transported to the Royalton State Police Barracks for processing.
He was charged with domestic assault and interference with emergency services.
Oakes was issued a citation and released on court-ordered conditions.
