Business owner arrested on fraud charges in Middleton

MIDDLETON, MA — The owner of a fireplace and grill business was arrested Monday following an investigation into complaints from nearly 30 customers.

Alan C. Davis, owner of Yankee Fireplace, Grill & Patio in Middleton, faces multiple counts of felony larceny over $1,200, according to the Middleton Police Department.

Police began investigating after receiving multiple complaints of larceny and fraud regarding unfulfilled services and unreturned customer deposits from the business.

The investigation revealed a pattern of fraudulent business practices affecting approximately 28 customers, police said.

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Davis and, with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, located and arrested him in Lawrence.

Davis was arraigned at Salem District Court and released on $3,500 cash bail.

The investigation remains open, and police are asking anyone with additional information to contact the Middleton Police Detective Unit.
