Pedestrian dies after being struck by vehicle in Stamford

STAMFORD, CT — A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle on High Ridge Road on Saturday night.

The collision occurred in the area of 996 High Ridge Road at approximately 10:30 p.m.

A 2016 Nissan Altima operated by a 30-year-old Stamford resident was traveling southbound on High Ridge Road when it struck a pedestrian crossing the road westbound.

The pedestrian, a 54-year-old Stamford resident, was crossing High Ridge Road from the east side to the west side when they were struck.

There are no marked crosswalks in that section of High Ridge Road.

The pedestrian was initially transported to Stamford Hospital with life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead in the early morning of Nov. 9.

The identity of the pedestrian is being withheld pending notification of family.

The vehicle operator remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
