WOONSOCKET, RI — A 16-year-old student was arrested after allegedly threatening to retrieve a firearm and assault another student at Woonsocket High School on November 6.
A school resource officer was notified by staff at approximately 8:40 a.m. that the student had made the threats and was observed leaving the school in an agitated state.
The school was placed in lockdown as officers searched for the student.
The 16-year-old was located a short time later walking near his residence.
The lockdown was lifted once the student was secured.
Officers met with a parent at the student’s home and conducted a search of the residence.
A 15-year-old juvenile was found hiding in a bedroom along with numerous packages of marijuana, a Taurus .380 caliber revolver, a .177 caliber rifle, ammunition and a machete.
The 16-year-old was charged with possession of a firearm by a person under 18 (two counts), possession of ammunition by a person under 18 and disorderly conduct.
The 15-year-old was charged with possession of a firearm by a person under 18 (two counts), possession of ammunition by a person under 18 and possession of marijuana more than one ounce.
Both juveniles were remanded to the Rhode Island Training School.
