VERONA, NY — A 29-year-old man was arrested after allegedly stealing multiple vehicles across Oneida County.
Caleb Stanford, of Oneida, was taken into custody following an investigation that began when a deputy responded to VVS Middle School around 6:07 a.m. on Nov. 7 for a report of an abandoned vehicle.
Deputies determined the vehicle, a blue Silverado pickup truck, had been stolen from Vernon Downs at 4229 Stuhlman Road in the town of Vernon.
During the investigation, authorities learned a subject had stolen another pickup truck from Verona State Park after attempting to steal a vehicle in the town of Verona.
Stanford was located in the town of Verona and the investigation was turned over to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Unit.
Stanford was transported to the Law Enforcement Building where he was processed and charged with one count of grand larceny in the fourth degree, a class E felony, and one count of attempted grand larceny in the fourth degree, a class A misdemeanor.
He was issued appearance tickets returnable to Verona and Vernon town courts and was released on his own recognizance.
