Two arrested on drug charges in Holyoke

HOLYOKE, MA — Two men were arrested Thursday night following citizen complaints about drug dealing at a Maple Street apartment building, according to Holyoke Police Chief Brian Keenan.

Detectives assigned to the Holyoke Criminal Investigations/Narcotics Bureau conducted a property check around 8:50 p.m. in the area of 462 Maple Street.

Detectives observed two individuals suspected of working together to sell drugs, later identified as Anthony Broden and Angel Garcia-Sanchez.

Sgt. Dustin Summers and Detectives Ashley Feliciano, William Lebrun and John Wagner conducted the operation with assistance from Sgt. Robert Shaw and Officers Justo Pagan, James Kennedy, Andrew Gruska and Johnathan Ortiz.

Broden was stopped and placed under arrest on an outstanding warrant for drug distribution and drug possession charges.

Garcia-Sanchez fled when detectives attempted to stop him but was detained a short time later.

Detectives recovered crack-cocaine and heroin/fentanyl from Garcia-Sanchez, who was then placed under arrest.

Officers seized $366 in cash from Garcia-Sanchez.

In total, detectives and officers recovered approximately 132 vials of crack-cocaine and 70 bags of heroin/fentanyl.

Broden, 41, of West Springfield, is charged with possession with the intent to distribute a Class A drug, possession with the intent to distribute a Class B drug, conspiracy to violate drug law, possession of a Class A drug, possession of a Class B drug, trespassing and an arrest warrant.

Garcia-Sanchez, 24, of Chicopee, is charged with possession with the intent to distribute a Class A drug, possession with the intent to distribute a Class B drug, conspiracy to violate drug law, possession of a Class A drug, possession of a Class B drug, trespassing and disorderly conduct.
