Man arrested on firearms, drug charges in Manchester

MANCHESTER, CT — A 25-year-old man was arrested Tuesday after police recovered three firearms, marijuana and a stolen vehicle.

Ocarterria Johnson, of Manchester, was taken into custody following an investigation into a stolen vehicle and suspected narcotics activity.

Officers located Johnson operating a vehicle outside his residence at 1300 Brookside Circle that had been reported stolen out of New York.

During the stop, officers found a substantial quantity of marijuana and items consistent with the sale and distribution of controlled substances.

Investigators obtained and executed a search warrant for Johnson’s residence.

The search resulted in the seizure of additional marijuana, U.S. currency and three firearms.

One firearm was identified as an illegal assault weapon.

Two additional firearms had serial numbers that appeared to have been intentionally altered or obliterated.

Johnson was held on a $750,000 bond.

He was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, possession of a motor vehicle with a changed identification number, illegal alteration of a motor vehicle with a changed identification number, possession of marijuana, sale of a controlled substance, interfering with an officer, first-degree criminal mischief, operating a drug factory, two counts of altering or removing identification marks on a firearm, illegal possession of an assault weapon and illegal possession of large capacity magazines.

Johnson is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on Dec. 2.
