DUNBARTON, NH — Police are searching for the driver of a green Mini Cooper who struck and killed a dog and left the scene.
The Dunbarton Police Department responded to the area of Twist Hill Road and Morse Road at approximately 6:30 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a large dog that was struck by a vehicle.
The vehicle involved is believed to be a green Mini Cooper with front-end driver’s side damage.
The vehicle did not stop and continued driving northbound towards Bow.
The dog died from its injuries.
New Hampshire RSA 264:31 requires the driver of any vehicle who knowingly strikes a dog to report it to the dog’s owner or custodian, or the police, as soon as possible.
Anyone who fails to do so is guilty of a violation.
The investigation is ongoing and police are looking to identify the vehicle and driver.
They are believed to be a daily commuter who travels through the area.
