Inmate escapes from transitional housing unit in Manchester

MANCHESTER, NH — The New Hampshire Department of Corrections has placed a minimum-security inmate on escape status after he fled from a transitional housing facility Wednesday night.

Anfernee Jay King was placed on escape status at 8:31 p.m. on Nov. 5.

King, 27, of Manchester, was last seen returning to Calumet House Transitional Housing Unit from work at approximately 8:11 p.m.

An officer approached him regarding suspected intoxication upon his arrival.

King fled on foot in an apparent attempt to evade a breathalyzer test and has not returned to the facility.

King is approximately 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 225 pounds.

He has blue eyes, brown hair and facial hair.

King has several tattoos, including a skull with roses on his left thigh, a timepiece with a scroll on his right thigh and an image of a woman eating a banana on his left shin.

He was last seen wearing glasses, a white hooded jacket with a red hooded sweatshirt underneath, gray sweatpants and white and gray sneakers.

King is incarcerated for criminal threatening – conduct involving a firearm.

His minimum custody release date is March 12, 2026, and his maximum custody release date is Jan. 8, 2037.
