LEWISTON, ME — Lewiston Police arrested a man on a firearm charge after responding to a report of a suspicious vehicle on Nov. 4.
Police responded to a parking lot near the intersection of Oak Street and Sabattus Street at approximately 9:30 p.m. after receiving a report of suspicious activity.
A witness reported observing individuals inside a vehicle pointing a green laser at surrounding buildings and hearing a single gunshot as she entered her nearby apartment.
Officers located the vehicle still in the parking lot and conducted a felony stop.
Four occupants were detained without incident and transported to the police department for questioning.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of two firearms, one of which was equipped with a green laser sight attachment.
Officers also located a spent shell casing inside the vehicle.
Following interviews with the four occupants, Demonte Powell, 19, of Lewiston, was arrested and charged with reckless conduct with a firearm.
There is no indication that anyone was struck by the gunfire.
