LOCKE, NY — A 48-year-old man was arrested on felony and misdemeanor charges following a domestic violence investigation.
Michael P. Zirbel, of Locke, was arrested at 11:02 a.m. on Nov. 3 and charged with first-degree criminal contempt, a felony, and attempted third-degree assault, a misdemeanor, according to Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck.
Deputies were dispatched to a residence in Locke at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 2 for a report of a physical domestic incident.
An investigation determined that Zirbel violated an order of protection by subjecting a female to unwanted physical contact, according to the sheriff’s office.
Zirbel had left the scene before deputies arrived.
Deputies applied for a warrant and located Zirbel on Nov. 3.
Following his arrest, Zirbel was taken to centralized arraignment, where a new order of protection was upgraded to a full stay-away order.
Zirbel was remanded to Cayuga County Jail due to being on parole and being charged with a felony.
He is scheduled to appear in Locke Town Court on Nov. 6.
