Woman arrested on stolen property charge in Rome

ROME, NY — A Utica woman faces a criminal charge after authorities say she fled from deputies in a stolen minivan that later crashed into a tree.

Carrie Presley, 39, of Utica, was charged with one count of criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree.

According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, a road patrol deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a gray minivan on Oct. 20.

As the deputy approached the vehicle, the driver fled, authorities said.

Deputies were advised that the vehicle was stolen out of Rome.

Deputies searched the area and later located the vehicle on Humaston Road in Rome after it had collided with a tree.

Presley was taken to Rome Health as a result of the crash.

The investigation was turned over to members of the Oneida County Criminal Investigations Unit.

Presley was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Rome City Court.
