Police seek vehicle in hit-and-run crash in Amherst

AMHERST, MA — Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run crash that injured a pedestrian.

The crash occurred Thursday in the area of 200 South East Street at approximately 7:13 p.m.

A pedestrian was struck by a motor vehicle that fled northbound without stopping, according to the Amherst Police Department.

The pedestrian was taken to Baystate Medical Center.

Using video surveillance cameras and debris from the crash site, investigators identified the vehicle as a Toyota Camry believed to be manufactured between 2007 and 2011.

The vehicle should be missing the front chrome “Toyota” emblem and should have a damaged windshield, police said.

Anyone with information on a 2007-2011 Toyota Camry that is missing the front chrome Toyota emblem and has front passenger side, hood and windshield damage is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Jamie Reardon at [email protected] or 413-259-3113.
