LAKE COMO, NJ — A municipal building was temporarily evacuated this morning following an email bomb threat.
Borough of Lake Como employees received an email early this morning referencing a possible bomb threat at the Lake Como Municipal Building, located at 1740 Main Street.
The Belmar Police Department, along with assisting agencies, immediately responded to the scene, securing and evacuating the building as a precautionary measure.
The Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department Bomb K9 Unit conducted a comprehensive sweep of the premises and determined there was no threat present.
Polling locations were immediately relocated to the Belmar Court.
Following the all-clear from law enforcement, the polling location at the Lake Como municipal building was safely reopened, and normal operations resumed.
Lake Como residents can now vote at Lake Como Borough Hall or vote provisionally only at Belmar Court.
The incident remains under active investigation.
