ELIZABETHTOWN, NY — A woman faces multiple fraud charges after an investigation into welfare benefits.

New York State Police arrested Bonnie J. Crevier, 53, of Jay, on Nov. 2.

She was charged with grand larceny 4th degree, welfare fraud 4th degree, offering a false instrument for filing 1st degree, and falsifying business records 1st degree.

State Police received an investigative packet from an investigator with the Essex County Department of Social Services regarding suspected welfare fraud at approximately 1:27 p.m. on Aug. 18.

An investigation determined Crevier falsified a Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program application, which resulted in an overpayment of approximately $2,246 in benefits.

During the period in which she was receiving benefits, she failed to report income from a part-time job, from operating an Airbnb, and from operating a business.

Crevier was processed at State Police High Peaks.

She was released on appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Elizabethtown Court at a later date in November.
