Five dead in Paterson house fire

PATERSON, NJ — Five people were found dead following a residential fire on Emerson Avenue late Thursday night.

The Paterson Police Department and Paterson Fire Department received reports of a fire at 15 Emerson Avenue at approximately 9:50 p.m. on Oct. 31, according to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes, Paterson Police Department Officer-In-Charge Patrick Murray and Paterson Fire Chief Alex Alicea.

Members of the Paterson Fire Department stabilized the structure fire.

Five individuals were located inside the residence: a 39-year-old man, a 38-year-old woman and three children aged 14, 12 and 7.

All five victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
