NORTH HAVEN, CT — Two people died in an early morning house fire on George Street, police said.
Officers responded to a report of a house fire in the 20 block of George Street at approximately 12:30 a.m., according to the North Haven Police Department.
Upon arrival, one adult was found deceased inside the home.
During firefighting efforts, an 8-year-old child was rescued from inside the home and tragically did not survive.
Several others inside the home have been accounted for and are safe.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
North Haven police, North Haven fire department and state fire marshals are working together to investigate.
