Officer saves choking infant in Albany, NY

ALBANY, NY — An Albany police officer saved the life of a 9-month-old baby who was choking at a residence on Leonard Place.

Officer Fitzgerald responded to a call around 7:40 p.m. Thursday for reports of a 9-month-old baby choking and had become unresponsive.

Upon arrival, Officer Fitzgerald found the baby not breathing and immediately took action.

Officer Fitzgerald administered several back blows, successfully dislodging the food and the baby began breathing again.

The Albany Fire Department and emergency medical personnel arrived shortly after and the infant was transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital for further treatment.
