SILVER CREEK, NY — Two people were arrested on child endangerment charges after a 4-year-old was found wandering on Interstate 90.
Robert L. Lyman, 31, and Mikayla A. Miller, 30, both of Silver Creek, were arrested Oct. 30 by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation and charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
Troopers from State Police Buffalo, Troop T, responded to I-90 westbound in Silver Creek at 6:10 p.m. Oct. 28 for a report of a found child on the side of the Thruway.
A motorist traveling on I-90 saw the child enter the roadway, pulled over and called 911, keeping the child out of the roadway until troopers arrived.
The residence of Lyman and Miller is near I-90.
Child Protective Services were making an unannounced visit to the residence and discovered the 4-year-old was not there.
CPS staff searched the residence and surrounding area and noticed New York State Police emergency lights on I-90.
Troopers told CPS and Lyman they had the child, who was in good health.
Child Protective Services are working with the family on the safety of the children.
Both Lyman and Miller were issued appearance tickets for town of Hanover Court returnable in November.
