Man arrested on heroin/fentanyl trafficking charge in Holyoke

HOLYOKE, MA — A multi-agency investigation led to the arrest of a man on heroin/fentanyl trafficking charges Thursday, police announced.

Stalin Marte-Castillo, 37, of Holyoke, was arrested following the execution of a search warrant at his Center Street home.

Members of the Massachusetts State Police CINRET-West and Hampden County Sheriff’s Department had been investigating the illegal trafficking of heroin/fentanyl from the residence with Marte-Castillo as a suspect.

Investigators applied for and were granted a search warrant for his home.

Around 1:15 p.m. Thursday, members of the Holyoke Police Department, Massachusetts State Police CINRET-West, Hampden County Sheriff’s Department, Drug Enforcement Administration Springfield Resident Office, FBI Western Mass Gang Task Force and the State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Hampden District Attorney’s Office executed the search warrant.

Marte-Castillo was detained pending the search.

During the search, officers recovered approximately 159 half-packs, or 7,950 bags, of suspected heroin/fentanyl and cash.

The suspected heroin/fentanyl weighed approximately 159 grams.

Marte-Castillo was charged with heroin/fentanyl trafficking 100-200 grams.
