Man arrested on firearm charge in Mentz

MENTZ, NY — A 55-year-old man was arrested on a felony firearm charge following an investigation by the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.

Eric S. Ewald, of Mentz, was arrested Oct. 27 and charged with criminal possession of a firearm, an E felony, according to Sheriff Brian Schenck.

An investigation revealed that Ewald was in possession of an un-serialized self-manufactured pistol in the town of Mentz, Schenck said.

Ewald was processed at the Sheriff’s Office and issued an appearance ticket returnable to Mentz Town Court on Nov. 10.
