PALMYRA, NY — A man was arrested after allegedly throwing household items, including a kayak, from a second-story balcony toward pedestrians.

Officers responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence on Market Street at approximately 9:20 a.m. on Oct. 28.

Police determined that Jonathan M. Taylor, 36, of Palmyra, while under the influence, caused a disruption by shouting obscenities toward bystanders and neighboring residents.

Taylor threw multiple household items from his balcony toward pedestrians below, according to police.

Among the items thrown was an eight-foot kayak, which narrowly missed striking a man who was working at a neighboring building.

Taylor was taken into custody without further incident.

He was charged with two counts of criminal mischief in the fourth degree, reckless endangerment in the second degree and disorderly conduct.

Taylor was transported to Newark-Wayne Community Hospital for treatment of an unintentional self-inflicted injury.

He was later brought to the Wayne County Jail for CAP arraignment at 7 p.m. on Oct. 28.
