Woman arrested on drug charges in Franklin Borough

FRANKLIN BOROUGH, NJ — A Hardyston woman was arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop on October 17.

Amanda J. Smith, 30, was taken into custody by Officers Jake Rotunda and Brendan Prol during a motor vehicle stop.

Officers conducted a search of the vehicle with assistance from the Sussex County Sheriff’s Department Det. Scott and K9 “Ace.”

The search revealed suspected heroin and crack cocaine packaged in a manner suitable for distribution, according to police.

Officers Rotunda and Prol were assisted by Franklin Police Sgt. William Grissom and the Vernon Township Police Department.

Smith was charged with possession with intent to distribute CDS, possession of heroin, possession of crack cocaine and failure to make lawful disposition of CDS.

She was also issued motor vehicle summonses related to the possession of narcotics in a motor vehicle.

Smith was lodged at the Morris County Correctional Facility pending her first appearance before Sussex County Superior Court.
