WESTPORT, NY — New York State Police arrested two people on drug and obstruction charges following a traffic stop on Oct. 28.
Stephanie M. Colby, 40, of Elizabethtown, was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.
Martin J. Kedmenec, 60, of Mineville, was charged with obstruction of governmental administration in the second degree.
At approximately 7:14 p.m., troopers observed a blue 2003 Toyota Highlander traveling north on State Route 9N in the town of Westport.
When the troopers passed the vehicle, they observed the passenger as Colby, who had been reported as a missing person.
The troopers initiated a traffic stop on Champlain Avenue and interviewed the occupants, who were identified as Colby and Kedmenec.
During the interview, troopers located drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.
Both subjects were arrested and transported to State Police High Peaks for processing.
Kedmenec was released on an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Westport Court at a later date in November.
Colby was transported to the Essex County Jail for a pre-arraignment hold.
On Oct. 29, she was arraigned in the Town of Elizabethtown Court and remanded to the Essex County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail, $50,000 secured bond, or $70,000 partially secured bond.
