SCHUYLER FALLS, NY — New York State Police arrested a 60-year-old man on charges of criminal possession of stolen property and weapons possession.
Edward A. Yando, of Wilmington, was arrested Oct. 29 and charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree, criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree involving firearms, and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.
Troopers responded to Rabideau Street on Sept. 23 at approximately 10:36 a.m. for a report of a larceny complaint.
An investigation determined that Yando had been staying at a residence and, following a disagreement, was asked to leave.
Further investigation revealed that Yando stole jewelry and firearms before departing the residence.
State Police actively searched for Yando.
On Oct. 29, troopers observed a gray pickup truck being operated by Yando.
A traffic stop was initiated, and he was identified as the driver.
Yando was taken into custody and transported to State Police Plattsburgh for processing.
During a search of the vehicle, troopers located both stolen firearms.
Yando was arraigned and released on his own recognizance.
